SaaleBAU 2024 ends on Sunday evening after three days. The focus of this year's trade fair was on housing and energy; numerous suppliers provided information on façade insulation, roof insulation, heat pumps or solar technology and photovoltaics. Many visitors enquired about alternative ways of generating energy and how they can save energy in their house or apartment.
The fair opened on Friday with a panel discussion. Sven Haller (State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Digital Affairs), Peter Nitschke (President of the Construction Industry Association), Marko Mühlstein (Managing Director of the State Energy Agency), Lothar Dieringer (Chairman of the Saxony-Anhalt District Crafts Association) and Siverin Arndt-Krüger (Vice President of the Saxony-Anhalt Chamber of Architects), Thomas Keindorf, President of the Halle (Saale) Chamber of Crafts, discussed the current situation in the construction industry and the existing challenges. All participants agreed that the outlook for the future is positive - provided that work continues on the framework conditions. At midday, Prof. Dr. Armin Willingmann (Minister for Science, Energy, Climate Protection and the Environment of Saxony-Anhalt) visited the trade fair. Together with representatives of the State Energy Agency, he presented the "Green House Number". Dr. Lydia Hüskens, Minister for Infrastructure and Digital Affairs of Saxony-Anhalt and patron of SaaleBAU, also came to the trade fair in the afternoon to talk to many exhibitors and see the range of products on offer for herself.
Despite the tense situation in the construction industry, the exhibitors reported many good conversations and were pleased about the trade fair with targeted inquiries. Visitors used the weekend in particular to find out about building new homes or renovating, modernizing and redesigning existing ones. Many came with concrete plans and projects, sought advice and worked with the exhibitors to find a way to implement them in the near future.
